However, facing the grocery crowds isn’t anyone’s top activity choice while you’re on a beautiful South Padre Island vacation. Luckily, there are options for getting groceries conveniently delivered or through carryout from HEB on South Padre Island.
South Padre Island Grocery Delivery
You can order groceries online through a delivery service offered by HEB on their website or app. The app is very convenient if you aren’t traveling with your computer.
To begin, you will be prompted to create an account to store your order and payment details. HEB’s app can retain that information for future orders.
Once you create your account, you can choose your address. The zip code for Port Isabel is 78578. Once you have your location filled in, you choose a time for delivery. We suggest you plan ahead because you should allow 4-5 hours for delivery. There is a $5 delivery fee and tip, which is not included.
Now it’s time to cultivate your grocery list. You can search for items individually or search by category. Once your items have been selected, you can review the items, and choose whether the personal shopper can allow for substitutions of items that might not be available. Ordering is easy with photos and descriptions of each item.
You have the option to greet the shopper at the door or for them to leave the items at the door based on your comfort level. If you choose to have items left at the door, they will follow up with a text, including an image of where they left your grocery items.
Once your ordering and delivery are done, HEB will follow up with an email showing the items you ordered and any items that might have been substituted.

Grocery Curbside Pick-Up
Curbside pick-up is similar to HEB’s delivery service, except you travel to the physical store to obtain your items. Simply park in the designated spot at your indicated time, and your groceries will be brought out to you by a store representative. This option is a great way to avoid the crowds and the delivery fee! There may be a small charge for times within the upcoming 1 to 4 hours; however, if you plan ahead you can get groceries after that time free of charge.
The process of choosing groceries is similar to the delivery process. The main difference is you go to the local Port Isabel HEB and park in a designated curbside area and text your spot number to the number indicated on the sign. An HEB representative will haul your groceries to your parking spot and confirm your name. Indicate where you would like the grocery placed. You can open up the truck and have groceries placed there. Once the curbside delivery is done you can head back to your cozy South Padre Island beachfront rental and put the fully equipped kitchen to good use!
