Usually, horses are taken to the beach on the Gulf side and have a leisurely ride among the waves before moving to the bayside of the island to watch the sunset. When traveling this route, you regularly see wildlife, beautiful sand dune flowers, and marine life.
Moonlight Ride on Horseback
The entire family will enjoy these unique rides, which are only offered four days before and during the full moon. Please reserve your moonlight excursion as soon as possible because space is limited.
Rides will take you around the beach and sand dunes at night as you take in the moonlight reflecting off the surf and the stars like you’ve never seen them before. Discover the island in a different way as you journey through vast sand dunes to the bay side of the island for a breathtaking view of the Laguna Madre and Gulf of Mexico from atop a tall sand dune.
For the duration of the 90-minute guided ride, no trotting or cantering is permitted. The trip departs at dusk for passengers to experience the sunset beach ride. They do their best to time the moon rising over the water to coincide with your visit to the stunning sand dune viewing place. By moonlight, visitors make their way back to the barn with the horses.
