Where to Watch Fireworks in South Padre Island
When it comes to fireworks, South Padre Island on the Fourth of July isn’t holding back. The show isn’t limited to only the Fourth of July but starts as early as Easter Weekend and runs through the first weekend of October. For the best view, visit The Pier, located behind the Courtyard by Marriot and Clayton’s Beach Bar & Grill. The event is entirely free! A fireworks show is held each Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m., accompanied by food options and live music. This is the perfect family outing for all! Fireworks aren’t the only things happening in July; there are plenty of other South Padre Island upcoming events. For the best Southern-style music, don’t miss J. Michael Lafferty live! His performances are being presented by Louie’s Backyard Grill and run throughout June and July. These musical performances are a weekly occurrence, recurring Fridays and Saturdays. They’re free to attend and guarantee a good time!
You can’t find a more beach-themed sport than hermit crab racing! To witness this unusual event, head to the Isla Grand Beach Resort on 500 Padre Boulevard. Racing occurs weekly on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. between the months of May and August.
On July 31, Clayton’s Beach Bar & Grill presents “The High and Mighty Tour.” Enjoy live music, fireworks, delicious seafood, and their signature Turbo Pina Colada. The event kicks off at 8 p.m. and takes place at 6900 Padre Boulevard.
Anglers won’t want to miss one of summer’s most exciting South Padre Island events: the International Fishing Tournament, which takes place from July 28 to August 1 at 7355 Padre Boulevard. It is Texas’ largest saltwater fishing tournament where fishermen young and old compete in one of three divisions: bay, tarpon, and offshore. Dockside, spectators can view impressive catches of marline, sailfish, speckled trout, and flounder reeled in by competitors.
Taking place on July 11 and 15, The Spazmatics is internationally renowned as “The Ultimate 80s New Wave Tribute.” They come up with unique sounds, styles, and dance steps from the decade many would prefer to forget. Even their outfits recapture the best of the worst with skinny ties, Brill Creamed hair, and horn-rimmed glasses. Their creative flair and homage to great American music from the 80s make these live concerts ones you sure don’t want to miss!
