History of Blackbeard’s
This seafood restaurant and steakhouse has served South Padre Island for over 44 years, opening in the late spring of 1978.
The history of Blackbeard’s South Padre Island location is terrific. Beginning its journey as a small beach house, the business has seen several renovations throughout the years that have led it to what it is today. A deck was added to the building to become the first outdoor dining area. Hurricane Allen dismantled the old building just three years before the first major, more modern renovations occurred. The most recent significant addition was in 1992 when the restaurant added an outside patio area.

Blackbeard’s South Padre Island’s menu is extensive, with a wide range to suit any appetite or cravings. There are various starters, from homemade onion rings and cheese sticks to buffalo wings and fried tortilla chips.

Their crab cakes are a fan favorite made from a southwestern recipe with blue crab meat and are made fresh to order. Another popular choice from the deck is the “Blackbeard’s Seafood Platter Supreme,” which can come fried or boiled and features gulf shrimp, scallops, stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, and your choice of Asian catfish, charbroiled salmon, or Mahi Mahi when it is available!
Some steaks include rib eyes, tenderloin filets, and a bourbon strip steak. All of their steaks are served with a complete set of sides, so you are sure to leave feeling full and satisfied with your meal.
They have rotating daily lunch specials depending on the day and Winter dinner specials from September through February.
