$10,000 total worth of door prizes given away at this family oriented event.
This family oriented event is one of the largest of its kind. Over each of the past eight years more than 160 to 170 boats have descended on South Padre Island to participate in this family and very prestigious event.

Anglers and owners from all over the country come to compete for a year’s worth of bragging rights and the coveted prizes that are awarded to the winners. One of the other nice things to happen at the event is the $10,000 total worth of door prizes given away on both nights. All the anglers have to do is bring in a Red, Trout and a Flounder if possible, but they have to be legal size.

All winners will be submitted to a polygraph test to receive prizes. If you have a Shallow Sport boat and want to compete, call them at 956-233-9489 or go to their website at Shallowsportboats.com and register.

South Padre Island, TX, April 2, 2013-The City of South Padre Island and Clayton’s Beach Bar & Grill has rescheduled Sand Castle Days 2013 to Labor Day Weekend as a tribute to summer and a thank you to summer visitors! Crowds numbering in the thousands attended last year’s event and this year promises to be even bigger!

Owner, Clayton Brashear says “Having this event on Labor Day Weekend allows a greater number of families to enjoy what has typically been aimed at winter visitors. This introduces art in sand to a whole new audience.”

Dates this year are Friday, August 30 through Monday Sept. 2, 2013.

This marks the 26th year for this ‘Sandsational’ event which was founded by Lucinda Wierenga (Sandy Feet) and Walter McDonald (Amazin Walter) in 1987. The event includes fantastic works of art in sand from some of the world’s highly rated professionals, as well as live music, venders and children’s activities
